Angelica gigas

(Korean angelica)

Growth: Tall, upright, clump-forming, bushy. This stunningly beautiful, statuesque plant is a biennial or short-lived perennial from Korea and China. Allow it to self-seed naturally in the garden for a yearly crop. Grow at the back of the herbaceous border, cottage garden or in a naturalized setting, or as a specimen near a water feature in full to part sun and rich, moist soil.

Characteristics: Deep purple dome-shaped umbels bloom at the top of tall red, branched stems (to 6 ft.) in mid-summer. Leaves are up to 24” (60cm) long and are deeply dissected, and pointy.
