Cornus canadensis

Growth: Rhizomatous herbaceous perennial, mat-forming, spreading. Grow as groundcover in a woodland or naturalized setting in part sun to dappled shade. Prefers moist, acidic soil.

Characteristics: Moderately slow growing. Edible berries.

Colours: Glossy mid-green, deeply veined ovate leaves grow in whorls on erect stems. Star-shaped white blooms appear In late spring to mid-summer, giving way to edible red berries in late summer. Foliage turns deep red to purple in fall.
