Geranium bicknellii

(Northern cranesbill)

Growth: Prostrate, mounding, self-seeding biennial native to northern boreal forests, where it responds to forest disturbances such as fire or logging. Prefers dappled or part sun and well-drained soil. Grow in the front of a specimen border, cottage garden or in a naturalized setting. Scatter seeds by hand in fall.

Characteristics: Flowers are borne in loose pairs, 1/3” (.75cm) across, 5-petalled, lavender pink in colour. Flowers bloom sporadically all summer. Leaves are bright green, rounded with 5 deeply cleft lobes, hairy on both sides.
