Heuchera ‘Melting Fire’

(‘Melting Fire’ coral bells)

Growth: Clump-forming, mounding. Grow in the front of the herbaceous border, cottage garden, rock garden, in containers or in the woodland garden. In warmer climates this plant can be grown in full shade, but in Zone 3 gardens I suggest a sunny location and moist, well-drained soil.

Characteristics: The leaves of this coral bell cultivar emerge bright red in spring, turning a deep maroon as they mature. In early summer, dark red stems rise above the foliage bearing panicles of small creamy-white flowers. I deadhead the flower stems when they are spent, since I consider the vivid foliage to be the real attraction of this plant.
