Growth: Compact, mounding. Prefers a position away from the hot afternoon sun which can scorch its leaves, and moist but well-drained, fertile soil. Grow at the front of the herbaceous border, cottage garden, part-shade garden or massed as a groundcover. 

Characteristics: Spikes of coral-red bell-shaped flowers held on short, wiry stems above deep green, lobed foliage. Blooms in early summer. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
