Lysimachia clethroides

(Gooseneck loosestrife)

Growth: Bushy, clump-forming, rhizomatous. Grow mid-border in the cottage garden, bog garden or in a sunnier spot in the woodland garden. Prefers moist, humous rich soil.

Characteristics: Quickly spreads into a colony in good conditions (rhizomes), much more slow-growing in drier soil.

Colours: Bears a profusion of gracefully arched spikes of tiny white flowers over many weeks in mid-summer to fall. 

Foliage is mid-green, leaves are pointed and slightly hairy, turning orange-red in the fall.
