Growth: Mounding, bushy, with upright stems. A staple in the herbaceous border and cottage garden. Peonies are noted for their longevity, some plants living past 100 years. This rare cultivar is a true heritage peony, dating back to 1850.

Characteristics: Large, ruffled, FRAGRANT burgundy-to-deep-magenta flowers with yellow centres atop branched 3’ stems. Flower stems will need supporting before bloom time in late spring. Performs best in full sun and average to moist, well-drained soil.
