(Japanese toad lily)

Growth: Naturalizing, clump-forming, non-rhizomatous herbaceous perennial for part to full shade.  Blooms in early fall.

Grow in a woodland setting, or a bog or shade garden where it is easily visible. Prefers moist soils, humous-rich and slightly acidic.

Characteristics: Moderately slow spreading habit. May self-seed in optimal conditions.

Colours: Small lily-like flowers on arching stems in shades of white and lilac, dotted with deep purple freckles. Oval leaves on clasping leaf bases.
