Growth:  tall, clump-forming, spreading. This statuesque native perennial is a magnet for bees, moths and butterflies. Its natural habitat is various types of wetlands where there is at least partial sun. Grow at the back of the herbaceous border or cottage garden or in a partly sunny meadow or woodland garden in moist to wet, humus-rich soil.

Characteristics:  Flat clusters of pink to purplish flower heads atop stout stems which are green or purplish with purple spots. Large coarsely toothed mid-green leaves are whorled around the stem
