Limonium platyphyllum

(Sea lavender)

Growth: Clump-forming, mounding. Blooms best in full sun. Suitable for a hot, dry, windy location such as a rock or scree garden or pavement edger.

Characteristics: Sprays of tiny papery light purple flowers on wiry, multi-branched stems create a billowy purple haze in mid to late summer. Spoon-shaped, glossy green foliage lies nearly flat to the ground. A perfect frothy addition to cut flower or dried arrangements. Attractive to bees and butterflies. To avoid self-seeding, cut back after flowering.
