Growth: Mounding with erect flowering stems. An aromatic native perennial herb found in mixed boreal woodlands. Grow in shade to dappled sunlight  in moist, humus-rich soil in the herbaceous border, cottage garden or in a woodland setting. 

Characteristics: Fresh light green, toothed leaves divided into 3 leaflets make up the base of the plant. Smaller leaves appear sparsely up the flowering stem. Umbels (flat-topped clusters) of tiny greenish white flowers bloom in late spring to summer. Leaves are edible and can be used in salads. Roots have an anise scent and can be dried for seasonings.
